PainChek, the world’s first smartphone pain monitoring and assessment technology, has partnered with Person Centred Software, its first international distributor. Person Centred Software will distribute PainChek® to its UK client base and has integrated with PainChek® to provide a joined-up solution for care providers to monitor pain in people who are non-verbal, such as people living with dementia. As 70% of people living in care homes have dementia in the UK, PainChek® is a valuable tool for care providers to monitor residents’ pain.

Using AI and facial recognition technology, PainChek® provides carers across multiple clinical areas with the ability to identify the presence and quantify the severity of pain when pain isn’t obvious. Already completed integration will seamlessly feed the information captured in PainChek® into Person Centred Software’s Mobile Care Monitoring system, an intelligent mobile solution for evidencing care interactions, electronic care planning, reporting and analysis. Integration to care plans and assessments help carers to personalise resident care plans and monitor pain.
Philip Daffas, CEO of PainChek Ltd says, “We are delighted to be working with Person Centred Software. The team and product offering are highly complementary to PainChek.”
Jonathan Papworth, Co-Founder and Director of Person Centred Software says, “Person Centred Software is the most widely used electronic care planning system in the UK and we see PainChek® as a significant addition to improving the quality of care management. Up to 80% of people in care homes experience chronic pain that often is undisclosed and unidentified. PainChek aligns with Person Centred Software’s values, especially to improve quality of life for everyone involved in social care, and we are therefore delighted to distribute PainChek® to our UK client base.
In April 2019, the Australian Federal Government gave a $5M grant to trial PainChek® across Australian Residential Aged Care for the 100,000 people living with dementia. PainChek is the world’s first pain assessment that has regulatory clearance in Australia and Europe.
Tammy Sherwood, CEO of Person Centred Software in Australia says, “Following the Federal Government grant, providers in Australia will be able to use PainChek’s artificial intelligence to assess and score pain levels in real time. Care homes using Person Centred Software’s unique electronic care planning and evidence care at the point of delivery to record highly detailed and accurate documentation will not need to duplicate information due to the integration with PainChek®. It makes for the perfect partnership.”
Person Centred Software’s Mobile Care Monitoring is currently used by over 1,200 care homes across the UK, 94% of which are rated as good or outstanding by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). The company recently celebrated its first year providing the system to care homes in Australia and New Zealand. Mobile Care Monitoring enables care providers to reduce the time spent on paperwork, exceed compliance measures and improve the quality of care.
